About the role
As a Senior C++ Engineer at MEGA, you'll work alongside a high-performance international team to architect and develop one of several products built using modern C++. These products include:
· MEGA S4, which at its core is a C++ server that provides access to the MEGA cloud through a standard RESTful API: AWS S3.
· MEGAcmd, a multi-platform tool allowing for access to, and automation of, MEGA services via command-line and other high-level protocols.
· MEGA's SDK, the powerful engine under the hood of all of our mobile and desktop applications.
Successful applicants will be assigned to a development team according to their proficiency and professional interest, but there is ample opportunity for internal promotion or secondment between teams.
In any case, as a Senior C++ Engineer at MEGA, you will design, develop, and maintain MEGA products through robust, testable, and scalable code. You will partner with, and report to, your Team Lead to contribute to code reviews, engineering guidelines, and the mentoring of your junior-level colleagues. Engineering high-performance, high-capacity C++ code that is concise, testable, and adheres to our strict security and privacy standards.

Risk-assessing and addressing persistent pain points or bottlenecks by reducing technical debt, efficiently leveraging tools, and automating manual processes wherever possible.
Collaborating with other engineers as well as the Product, Design, and QA teams to produce seamless, consistent user experiences for our global userbase.
We run an asynchronous, hybrid-remote model at MEGA, and this role may require early-morning or late-night availability as you work alongside staff in different time zones.

About you
You're a hands-on, platform-agnostic engineer who takes pride in building world-class products with clean code and is able to work with MEGA's build environments for networks and servers. A self-starter, you proactively identify problems and inefficiencies and seek to resolve them. You have a real passion for the industry and a keen awareness of the latest trends, technologies, and approaches; you enjoy sharing this knowledge and empowering your colleagues to work as a highly productive, close-knit team.

Also, you have:
· 5+years of professional experience in C++ software development.
· A deep understanding of modern C++ (ideally C++17) and the standard library, with the ability to construct efficient algorithms.
· A proven track record of producing clean code, effective software debugging, and collaborative software development.
· Proficiency in Linux development.
· (Ideally) experience in the development of final user applications for Linux, Windows, and Mac, including scripting, package systems, and installers. Demonstrable experience in this area would well-position you to join our MEGAcmd team
· (Ideally) strong working knowledge of IPC mechanisms.
· (Ideally) you hold a tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
· Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
