About the role

MEGA's SDK is the powerful engine under the hood of our mobile and desktop applications. As our C++ Engineering Team Lead, you will direct a functional team of talented C++ Engineers tasked with contributing to and enhancing our SDK in support of our broad product suite. This includes the Cloud/Transfer and Sync cores, Mobile and Command-line interfaces, and Chat/Meetings. Given our commitment to zero-knowledge encryption, the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, and our rapidly growing userbase, this is a dynamic and challenging space to work in where your voice will be heard and your skills put to good use.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will apply your exceptional leadership skills and technical ability to:

Engineer high-performance, high-capacity code that is concise, testable, scalable, and adheres to our strict security and privacy standards
Encourage growth and engagement within your team through mentorship and knowledge-sharing, fostering a work environment in which engineers can thrive
Draw from industry-leading methodology to contribute to established engineering practices and our technical infrastructure, improving overall reliability and efficiency
Address persistent pain points and bottlenecks by reducing technical debt, efficiently leveraging tools, and automating manual processes where possible
Collaborate with the Product, Design, and QA teams as you build the tools required to produce seamless user experiences for our massive userbase

Please note that successful applicants based in Spain will be employed on a Spanish employment contract and must have full legal rights to work in Spain. Successful applicants based elsewhere in Europe will be engaged as a contractor on an Individual Contractor's Agreement.

We run an asynchronous, hybrid-remote model at MEGA, and this role may require early-morning or late-night availability as you work alongside staff in different time zones.

About you

You're a technical leader with a passion for the industry and a keen awareness of the latest trends, technologies, and approaches. While you are able to work effectively in a self-directed manner, you also enjoy sharing your knowledge and empowering your colleagues to work as a highly productive, close-knit team.

You demonstrate MEGA's values by taking ownership of your work and pursuing continuous improvement, proactively identifying present or potential issues and seeking to efficiently resolve them. Also, you have:

A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
3+ years' experience as a Software Engineering Team Lead, with a track record of building and managing high-performance teams
7+ years' experience working in C++, and the ability to work in C++11
An appreciable background in profiling apps and identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies
A strong skillset in database, network, and algorithmic programming
A robust awareness of, and sensitivity to, changing methodology and theory with regard to software engineering best-practices
Familiarity with the Agile approach to project governance
Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
